“From process materials to scalable production,” James Knox, Aerovac
James Knox, technical director at Aerovac, outlines how engineered process materials, kitting, and soft tooling solutions support repeatable composite manufacturing and scalable production workflows.
JEC Composites Magazine: What types of composite parts and manufacturing applications do Aerovac’s process materials support, and which end markets do you primarily serve?
James Knox: Aerovac enables composite manufacturers to produce high-quality, repeatable composite parts by supplying engineered process materials that support controlled resin infusion and vacuum-assisted manufacturing processes. Our solutions are used across aerospace, wind energy, marine, motorsports and other advanced composite markets where process reliability and part consistency are critical.
At JEC World 2026, Aerovac’s resin infusion demonstrations featured vacuum bagging materials manufactured at our Mondovi, Italy facility, including bagging films, release films, combination products and other consumables designed to perform across a wide range of composite applications. In addition, our process materials kitting and soft tooling demonstrations will highlight custom-engineered kits, reusable membranes and soft tooling solutions produced in Toulouse, France, each tailored to a customer’s specific mould geometry and production requirements.

What differentiates Aerovac’s process materials and technical approach from other suppliers in the composites manufacturing ecosystem?
J.K.: Aerovac differentiates itself through a process-driven approach that combines engineered materials, technical expertise and global manufacturing capability. Rather than offering standalone consumables, Aerovac works closely with manufacturers to develop integrated process solutions that improve repeatability, efficiency and part quality.
With production facilities in France, Italy, the UK, Brazil and the United States – supported by a worldwide distribution network – Aerovac ensures consistent product availability and localised technical support. Our technical teams collaborate directly with customers to solve application-specific challenges, reduce waste, and optimise composite manufacturing processes from development through production.
