This product uses a new, non-painted SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) with Class A surface from VDL Wientjes Emmen bv, a MultiStar 272 roving from Johns Manville and an ICU EVe charge unit from Alfen bv (developed by Van Dijk 3DE).

The optimized SMC moulding technique developed by VDL Wientjes Emmen bv provides local part thicknesses up to 8 mm, a 0.5° draft angle, part integration and a non-painted surface (in-coloured SMC).

The E-charger uses sustainable composites that are both durable and recyclable. These materials generate 30% less CO2 versus a steel equivalent during their life cycle and 30-40% material cost savings.

This E-charger has strong market potential by 2020, with 3.5 million electrical vehicles in Europe and  25,000 public E-charger units installed in France, Germany, NL and the UK.
