China’s C919 jets complete all flight tests
All of China’s six C919 planes have completed flight tests. The C919, China’s first self-developed trunk jetliner, has 158-174 seats and a range of 4,075-5,555 km.
The plane, developed by Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (COMAC), conducted its maiden flight in 2017.To date, COMAC has received 815 orders for the C919 planes from 28 customers worldwide.
In the wake of these flight tests, a meeting was held at Weinan Huashan Airport in Shaanxi province. It was emphasized at the meeting that the six C919 flight test aircraft had completed all the flight tests, marking that the certification of C919 aircraft had entered the end phase, and all-out efforts for certification had begun. It was also said that this is the result of the full support of relevant national ministries and commissions such as Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and China Meteorological Administration (CMA), as well as local governments such as Shanghai, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Jiangxi and Inner Mongolia.
Zhao Yuerang, COMAC’s general manager, affirmed the achievements made by the project team and the C919 field test team, pointing out that since the beginning of this year, facing a new round of sudden coronavirus epidemic and severe and complex international situation, the company’s scientific research, production and test flight certification tasks are extremely arduous.
