Fassmer and Greenboats partner to enhance natural fibre development
Fassmer and Greenboats announce their formal partnership, a landmark initiative to enhance sustainable manufacturing technologies in Germany. Greenboats will establish the production of their ecological composite materials at Fassmer’s facility. This collaboration will create a globally unique manufacturing site, distinguished by its production scope and sustainability.
This cooperation merges Fassmer’s decades of experience in composite technology with Greenboats‘ expertise in developing Natural Fibre Composites (NFCs). This sets new standards in the field of sustainable lightweight components.
As part of this partnership, a pioneering production facility for natural fibre-reinforced composite laminates is taking shape. Designed to manufacture laminates up to 6 x 2.5 meters, the facility will be characterized by the use of eco-friendly flax fibres and bio-based resins. This resource-efficient material choice reflects a shared commitment to sustainability by producing products with significantly reduced CO2 footprints and setting recycling benchmarks. The resulting components are notable for their perfect blend of low weight and high stiffness, thus catalyzing advancements in materials science and sustainable product development.
Friedrich J. Deimann, Founder and CEO of Greenboats, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration: “Industrializing new materials requires foresight, courage, and strong partnerships. With Fassmer by our side, we are poised to achieve our ambitious goals and respond to the growing demand for sustainable products.“
Sven Sperling, Director of Operations at Fassmer Composite, adds: “The collaboration with Greenboats combines experience, consistency, and high quality with a transformation through innovation and sustainability. We are ready to embrace future challenges and offer our customers a sustainable product portfolio.“
