With the wide application of carbon fibre composite materials in various fields, the amount of discarded carbon fibre composite materials is increasing rapidly, but the recycling of carbon fibre composite materials in China is still in its infancy. Therefore, the development of recycling and green circular economy applications of carbon fibre composite materials is not only conducive to environmental protection, reducing carbon emissions, and helping to achieve China’s dual-carbon goals, but also can bring economic opportunities to enterprises.

After more than three years of research and development, the company’s technical team has finally developed a production line with a high degree of automation, large production capacity, and low energy consumption. The performance indicators of the recycled carbon fibre obtained are basically equivalent to those of virgin carbon fibre, says Jiangsu Deqing. In addition, the technical team has developed carbon fibre sizing agents for different thermoplastics, which can significantly improve the dispersion and bonding strength of the interfaces of chopped recycled carbon fibres during the granulation process.

The company’s recycled carbon fibre composite materials mainly come from the pultruded plates of the main beams of wind turbine blades; the recycled carbon fibres obtained from the recycling have stable performance, low dispersion, as well as long-term and large-volume supply capabilities.

At the same time, Jiangsu Deqing actively supports the preparation of relevant recycling standards and is a participating unit of two group standards, “Carbon Emission Accounting Method for Recycling and Reusing Waste Carbon Fibre Composite Materials” and “Carbon Emission Accounting Method for Recycling and Utilizing Waste Wind Turbine Blades”. The company is actively carrying out the certification work of GRS (Global Recycled Standards) to fully meet the index requirements in terms of traceability, social responsibility and environment, and ensure that the company has minimal impact on the environment during the recycling production process.
