Negri Bossi uses injection machines to produce rubber masks
Negri Bossi, a Italian specialist of injection machines for moulding plastic material located near Milan, has decided to start an extraordinary work of change for the good of the community using two injection machines to produce masks to counter the spread of Covid‐19.
Ruggero Galbusera, company manager for injection molding, and Maurizio Seregni, operating director, both engaged in social work, felt it was a duty to be an active part in the transformation that we are living. The idea was to print safety masks. The project was immediately appreciated and supported in the various evolutionary phases by Giancarlo Costa, president of the regional Volunteer Coordination Committee with which the logistical aspects were organized for distribution to the community. The design project was made entirely by Negri Bossi, masks are in thermoplastic rubber, a very flexible material therefore they are comfortable and ergonomic. They are transparent not limiting the field of view and do not cause the lenses to mist up when using glasses. Last but not least, they are easily sanitized in boiling water and neutral soap.
The mask can be reused thanks to the interchangeability of the filtering fabric and it provides for the possibility of upgrading to a higher level thanks to a possible insertion of the exhalation valve filter to cope with future certifications.
In this regard, the procedures required by the March 2020 Legislative Decree for PPE are being implemented.
The production process has been supported by the Francesco Franceschetti Elastomeri company who donated the plastic material, by the Ravizza Packaging company who donated the bagging machine.
The mould has been built in a very short time by Esistampi, a mould maker and long time collaborator. At full capacity, the production reaches the extraordinary quantity of 500 masks per hour.
