Turbojets exhausts made from ceramic matrix composites
JEC Europe 2014 – The ARCOCE (ARrière-Corps COmposite Ceramique) project aims at developing CMC (ceramic matrix composite) exhausts for turbojets.
These composites can withstand high temperatures and are especially suitable for these parts, which are highly exposed to engine heat.
The ARCOCE centerbody is presented with a CFM56-5C CMC mixer prototype.
- Up to 50% weight saving vs. metallic alloys
- High temperature resistance (>700°C)
- Ground tests in 2011
- Flight tests on Airbus A320 flying test bed in 2012
- Air France flight campaign foreseen from 2014 to 2016
