Radici Group helps to fight against Covid-19
First 5,000 gowns donated to Pope John XXIII Hospital in record time.
Overalls, headgear and shoes to protect doctors, nurses and health personnel from Covid19: RadiciGroup with its division specialized in the production of a high performance non-woven fabric has created a project that expresses the flexibility and ability of Bergamo to respond to the most demanding complex challenges.
Angelo Radici, President of RadiciGroup comments:
“We asked ourselves how we could help in this emergency. We involved other local companies that immediately accepted, together we developed a credible and certified supply chain to deal with the needs of our doctors “
RadiciGroup already had over 10 thousand meters of fabric, for which coupling tests have already been carried out with a protective film made by the Bergamo-based company Plastik.
“We collaborated with RadiciGroup – said Gianangelo Cattaneo, President of Plastik. When they contacted us for this project, the answer was immediately “yes”: a concrete action by the Bergamo industries to respond to an emergency in the area. Our task was to combine the RadiciGroup non-woven fabric with a special product that made it antibacterial and breathable and therefore resistant to infectious agents”.
The tests for medical use were carried out and validated by the Centrocot of Varese.
Also very important the help by some local garment makers who immediately put themselves at stake to create the garments according to the models in use by the health personnel.
Before delivery to the the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital:
“We waited until the final test result – underlines Angelo Radici – we had to be certain that the devices guaranteed safety for the health personnel. Now that the certification has arrived I am very satisfied and proud because I have seen a great ability to team up among the various industrial realities of the area that we have involved in this project. Now we are available to offer our contribution in a moment of absolute emergency like the one we are experiencing “.
The first 5,000 gowns made will be donated by RadiciGroup to the Papa Giovanni XXXIII Hospital in Bergamo.
Subsequently, the Group will be available to associations, hospitals and healthcare entities that will need to find the raw material or packaged PPE.
RadiciGroup has also implemented other solidarity initiatives: with the Bergamo soccer team “Atalanta” made a donation for the purchase of all the facilities necessary for the administration of oxygen for 200 beds destined for patients hospitalized for Covid-19 in the emergency hospital. The Group also helped to equip a hospital in Seriate with a Mobile CT useful for the diagnostic investigations necessary for those patients who present respiratory problems potentially related to Covid-19.
Last but not least, Radici Plastics Suzhou, a RadiciGroup company based in Jiangsu province in China, has joined the fundraising initiative promoted by the Italian community in Shanghai to send over 20,000 masks and other medical devices to the Pope John XXIII Hospital in Bergamo.
In addition, the Group was the protagonist of the supply chain for the production of “molamia” masks created as part of the project coordinated by Confindustria Bergamo with Maglificio Santini and Plastik, approved the Politecnico di Milano.
